Rosacea

Of all the reasons that cause us to blush, rosacea may be the least appreciated. A common skin disorder affecting the face, rosacea is characterized by persistent redness and dilated vessels over the nose, cheeks and chin and in some cases facial inflammation.

Generally affecting adults between the ages of 30 to 50, the condition is more prevalent in individuals with fair skin and in women. It is often aggravated by sun exposure, temperature extremes, stress and anxiety.

Rosacea Treatment Options

Through a range of in office treatments and medical grade skincare, we can help restore your skin’s natural balance and help you rediscover your confidence:

Fotona’s Nd:YAG laser uses the Long Pulse (LP pulsation) setting to target red, purple, and violet pigmentation in the blood vessels of the skin by delivering controlled laser energy to coagulate them, thus reducing them in size and intensity.

Uses broad band light (BBL) energy to target pigmented cells such as rosacea

Small Veins

Broken capillaries are tiny vessels just beneath the skin’s surface that become dilated or more prominent. Blood that normally flows out of these vessels may pool and remain, resulting in small clusters of unsightly tiny capillaries that appear red or blue beneath the skin. These veins become more visible with age as the skin becomes thinner and the elasticity of your blood vessels decrease.

Fotona’s Nd: YAG laser uses the Long Pulse setting to target red, purple, and blue pigmentation in the blood vessels of the skin by delivering controlled laser energy to coagulate them, thus reducing them in size and intensity.

Laser light therapies such as Varilite KTP are often the treatment of choice for superficial dilated capillaries and spider veins on the face, neck and body.

Quick and effective- vascular lasers treat work by emitting a specific wavelength that is absorbed by the hemoglobin contained in red blood cells. The laser energy heats the abnormal vessels until they are removed, without damaging the skin or surrounding tissue. Over time – usually, in four to six weeks after treatment – the vein is reabsorbed by the body and disappears.

Depending on the number, color and size of the veins being treated, more than one session may be required to achieve an optimal outcome.

Collagen: the buzzword of the moment. From skin care to smoothie supplements, this super-ingredient promises to turn back time on our skin and keep it looking youthful for years on end. But is it really worth the hype?

Collagen is a protein substance that is naturally created in the body by converting dietary protein into amino acids that can be found in a balanced diet of protein-rich foods. The production of collagen within the body naturally slows with age, but can also be aided by sun exposure, smoking, increased carb and alcohol intake, and stress. While simply taking supplements won't completely reverse the effects of the body's natural loss of the substance, some studies have shown that collagen supplements can improve skin elasticity and hydration on some level.

So while it might not be the miracle many brands boast, an increase of collagen does aid anti-aging efforts. However, certain cosmetic treatments can stimulate the body's own production of collagen, such as @Ultherapy, Fotona laser treatment, Co2 resurfacing and EndyMed microneedling, all of which we're proud to offer at Sante. Visit the link in our bio to learn more about these treatments and head to our blog to read all about collagen and how it can improve skin appearance.
