Let’s admit it: we all want thick, healthy hair for as long as possible, right? Having shiny, full locks undeniably boosts confidence and self-image. So, what happens when you start to notice thinning hair in the reflection and your hairstyle doesn’t look the same as it used to?
Men, women, and non-binary folks are all at the mercy of hair loss. It happens—and it can be disheartening—but hair loss treatments, both surgical and non-surgical, exist and can help stimulate hair growth. Laser hair restoration is a non-surgical treatment that can potentially work wonders. In conjunction with platelet-rich plasma therapy, laser hair restoration is an excellent treatment option for hair loss.

Why Does Hair Loss Happen?
When you start to see hair thinning and receding, it can hinder your self-esteem because our society puts so much emphasis on appearance. But, the most common type of hairless is not something that you can control. In fact, more than half the world’s population struggles with androgenetic alopecia.
The primary reason for hair loss is pattern baldness, which can affect every human, regardless of gender. In the scientific space, pattern baldness is referred to as androgenetic alopecia. Androgen is the term that describes a group of hormones, and alopecia refers to hair loss.
What it comes down to is this: hair loss occurs due to a combination of hormonal changes, aging, and genetics. The hereditary quality affects how quickly and where you lose your hair, and your hormones change as you age, thereby changing the quality of hair growth and the cellular composition.
Some other factors also play a role in hair loss, including menopause, certain hairstyles, and some medications with hair-related side effects.
Laser Therapy & Non-Surgical Hair Restoration
Our team of experts at Sante Medical offers multiple hair restoration and rejuvenation solutions. The clientele of these services has grown so much that we created the Sante Hair Restoration Institute (Sante HRI) in the heart of Calgary.
Fortunately, advancements in technology have made it possible to achieve hair rejuvenation without going under the knife. While we don’t offer laser hair restoration on its own, we have a method in which we use laser in conjunction with platelet-rich plasma therapy (PRP therapy).
To achieve the best results possible for your hair journey, you’ll receive a combination of PRP therapy and Fontona SP Dynamis Laser or the Capillus Laser Cap.
Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy
Platelet-rich plasma therapy (PRP therapy) uses platelets derived from the patient’s blood. Platelets are tiny cells vital to the natural cell regeneration process—they stimulate tissue repair, cell renewal, and collagen production by releasing certain growth factors and cytokines. How Laser Hair Restoration Works
First, let’s get some details on the hair growth cycle—this will help you understand how laser therapy can aid in hair rejuvenation.
Each strand of hair grows in 3 phases:
- The anagen phase: the growth phase. Your hair grows about 1–2 centimeters per month.
- The catagen phase: the regression phase. Your hair stops growing during this phase, which lasts about 2 to 3 weeks.
- The telogen phase: the resting phase. Your hair rests for about 1–4 months, then sheds. Shedding normally stimulates new hair growth in the same follicle.
Laser therapy has stimulating effects on tissues and cells, and it’s suggested that this can impact the hair growth cycle. It’s thought to prolong the anagen phase, prevent the catagen phase from happening early, and stimulate new growth after the telogen phase.
What About the Results?
Every person’s scalp and hair follicles are unique, and as such, results may vary from person to person. Since we see varying results, it’s best to do our online consultation to learn more about your scalp and how your hair journey could look.
More research needs to be done before we can certify results, but some studies have shown promising results. In 2014, a study found that low-level laser therapy applied to the scalp appeared to be safe and successful for stimulating hair growth in both men and women.
Hair loss can be a tough pill to swallow, but we’ll do our best to help you achieve the results you want. Contact our team to start your hair restoration journey with Sante.
