Nose and Face Veins
Small red spider veins (often referred to as thread veins) are often found adjacent to the nose, and sometimes extending onto the cheeks and chin. They form as a result of allergies, rosacea, too much sun or exposure to temperature extremes common in Alberta. The likelihood of developing the condition increases, like most things, with age, since collagen content and skin elasticity decreases as you get older, causing the blood vessels to expand and become more visible in the facial area.
Thread veins do not pose a health risk, but for many they are a cosmetic concern. You may feel embarrassed by the redness of your nose, and the potential association it can often have with alcoholism. If you find yourself wanting to remove thread veins on your nose and facial area, a number of treatment options are available.
There are a number of different ways to treat unsightly veins, all depending on the specific patient, what their concern is and how they’d most like to solve it.
We often use Vascular/Pigmented lasers to reduce the appearance of veins, which can result in a very clear, smooth look on the face. Ultimately, we recommend scheduling a time to visit with one of our experts where we can have a casual conversation to determine the best plan for your personal needs and goals.
