Excessive sweating is a medical condition known as hyperhidrosis, which involves overactive sweat glands. In this condition, sweating significantly exceeds the body's normal requirements for cooling. This condition can exhibit symptoms in one or more areas such as sweaty palms, feet, armpits, or an overall profuse sweating of the body in general.
A variety of approaches have been used to treat excessive sweating, including surgical approaches, usually reserved for the most extreme cases. A more recent approach is the use of Botox® which helps control the condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands.
Hyperhidrosis is a condition of involuntary excessive sweating which typically involves the armpits, palms of the hands, soles of the feet, the groin, and the face. Not all individuals have excessive sweating in all these areas but many do have a positive family history in another member. It is particularly discomforting to have excessive sweating of the armpits and the palms because of social interactions. Botox Hyperhidrosis is an effective treatment for this condition.
